I'm trying to rip an older CD, but for the most part it's in excellent condition. While listening to the .wav files I noticed a pop at 1:11 on the final track. EAC said nothing (and continues to say nothing) about any errors on the track, I've reripped it many times now. The pop is also on the original CD, but only when I play it through the computer? I tried CDex as well in full paranoia mode, still nothing. Is there a program that will just read it like 20 times or something even if it doesn't detect an error?
[x] enable the secure mode in eac
[x] use the accurate stream feature if your drive has this feature.
[x] enable caching in eac if you are not sure if your cd- drive caches
[ ] disable the c2 error retrieving
[ ] disable the use of c2 error information
set the error recovery quality to HIGH and try to rip with test & copy.
i have some cds where i got pops always at the same part of the track when i was using the c2 feature. without it it works.

If it will read 20 times exactly the same (pop) it won't help you

Some damages are not repairable unfortunately. Maybe you can try to clean the disk or even try to polish away a suspected scratch?

edit: lost a word
EAC will only report an error if the second try results in a different read. Since you tried many more times, apparently there simply is no reading-error, in the sense that the cd-rom drive has no trouble reading that sector. So, I think the pop is due to something like bad pressing of the disc.
The reason why your audio cd-player does not play the pop is that it performs more error correction stuff than a cd-rom drive does on audio. Probably, you'll need a glitch removal tool...
(edit: wow, 2 replies while I was typing. And I was only just thinking that HA had such a low posts rate)

I realize this, but in the past EAC has always told me of read errors when this happens, with this track it claims no errors. I will try your settings later today Xenion, these were the settings I was using except I had C2 error retrieving enabled (but not used). BTW drive is Lite-On 48125W. I could also try my Asus DVD E616 but it's not configured for EAC right now since I hate that drive....

I managed to downplay it using EAC's wave editor (first time) but it's still noticeable. I can see the big spike which is the pop but can't figure out how to make it smaller, tried smooth and fix glitch thing.
BadReligionPR:
Try to record it via your soundcard's digital input directly from the CD player, if you have the possibility...
