I recently downloaded and installed MP3gain. When I run it I get "error during analyysis" on each of the 150 MP3 files I downloaded on Morphues. What's happening and is there a remedy for this situation?? LDWELLS

Hmm... usually the "error during analysis" message happens when the mp3 is corrupt. That seems a little less likely, since all of your files are getting the error.
You can use mp3utility ( http://www.geocities.com/mp3utility ) to examine the files and see if they're corrupt.

Which version of mp3gain are you using? (check the "Help->About..." screen) The most recent version is 0.6.3, and the most recent version of the back end ("mp3gain.exe", not "MP3 Gain Analysis.exe") is the one dated 28-Dec-2001.
Both .exe files should be in the same folder when you run the program.

If your files look good and you're running the most recent version of mp3gain, then I'm not sure what the problem is. I'd have to look at one of the mp3s to be sure.

...oh, wait. One other thing you can check: run the back end (you'll have to run it in a command window) on one of the bad files and see what the full output says. That should give me a little more insight.

smile.gif Thanks Snleg; I found I did not have MP3gain version 6.3
Downloaded same. Works as advertised. All my MP3 files OK.

One question. After analyzing a folder ,some files names are displyed in red. What does this indicate. LDW

This indicates that there is a potential for clipping. It's supposed to catch your eye and make you look at the two "clip" columns. The "clip?" column (which I should re-name "Radio clip?") means that if you apply the suggested Radio gain to this file, it will clip. The "Album clip?" column means that if you apply the suggested Album gain to this file, it will clip.
