I saw the new "Fatal1ty" gaming headset on the web today. It looks good and all but I am unsure about this "Silencer" tech mentioned in the specs - it says the sound card is required. I always thought noise canceling uses the phase difference between 2 microphones and does not require a sound card for that... Any ideas what is so special about this tech and if it is worth it?

Instead of putting a DSP in the headphones they're using the soundcard's DSP to do it. Presumably its cheaper for them and allows them to sell more sound cards.

thanks Mike, this makes sense but then the headset would have to "communicate" with the sound card anyhow I am not getting this bit. I actually have X-Fi sound card but not willing to shell out some 100 bucks if I dont understand how it works BEFOREHAND wink.gif
