looks like it is not even release, so it is better to use svn checkout.

There's a Windows compile of 3.99.a1 on Rarewares here.

1. this bug is appeared when using libmp3lame compiled with ffmpeg (when using pipes there is no problem)
2. if a1 was not official released - it is better to use current version

I have found interesting feature in sourceforge - it is possible to download directories as tarballs, it works for other projects (example 1 2), but disabled for lame (viewvc settings):

(I am not sure if it was disable by lame, or limitation from hoster)
