Gens has been my favourite Genesis emulator for years. Nowdays, it's more than that, it's also a Sega CD, and 32X emulator.

I've less time to work on my personnal project and i think that Open Source can help to maintain Gens alive, that doesn't mean i'll personnaly stop development on Gens...I'm still here smile.gif
But i hope that'll help to have extra funsy features added.

Great.

Yeah, this is great. Honestly there isn't much left to do with Gens, since Stef has done such a near perfect job with it. Maybe add SMS/GG support? That should be relatively easy since the z80 is already emulated in gens. Hmm, anything else...
Improve sound logging, so the DAC is logged. Maybe an option to sync on the next button press so syncing up to a sound test is easier.
Fix/improve the GUI in full-screen, it always seems to disappear and glitch out on my system.

I'd like to see options for higher resolutions like 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768 so my new laptop (which doesn't really support 640 x 480) could display the image correctly. Going open source is a step in the right direction, I must agree. Look at how far ZSNES has progressed since the code was made public.

I hope to see CCS 64 open source: this emulator is great and is the best emulator for Commodore 64, but there are still some bugs and things to improve and the programmers left the developing last month. sad.gif

ZSNES 1.40 is a piece of crap! It crashes after maybe 20 seconds of gameplay on my system. And previous versions mangle the sound. Add to that the fact that it still can't properly play games like Streetfighter Alpha 2, and ZSNES clearly still has a looong way to go. I'm considering using SNES9x...

I use z-nes 1.35 and the audio and video are very good, it is stable too.
Is it changed in negative?

With Snes a lot of pc have problems running the audio and the screen resolution.

How can you be using 1.40? The latest official version of ZSNES is 1.36, and I have only had minor problems with it.

Zsnes is totally stable on my system. Sounds better than snes9x because of superior interpolation options, too.

And as for SFA2, you are probably better off playing it in MAME or Nebula anyway.

I can think of tons of things that need to be done with Gens :

-Video
--Support for more resolutions
--32-bit color support
--Video filter modes rewrote and updated (with 32-bit color support)

-Interface
--Needs full screen interface (or bugs fixed in current interface)

-Input
--Fully customizeable program & game keys, including mapping combos, turbo, etc

-Audio
--Needs 16-bit 48Hz output mode
--New Sega/Genesis/32X audio format for ripping audio files without modification from ROM files

-Sega CD
--New file format for storing, playing, and transporting, losslessly compressed Sega CD game images

-General
--Bug fixes
--Increase performance
--Increase emulation support even more
