Hello,
I hope someone can help me here. I've searched the forum, but I'm sorry if I've missed relevant posts, but I appear to be going round in circles now!
Here's what I'm trying to do: Rip all my CDs to wav files with EAC and create cue sheets, then further encode them in a lossless format for playback through WMP (v12) and WMC (On windows 7).
I have installed the ogg codecs for flac to get WMP to see flac, and installed the WMPTagSupportExtender.
A possible mistake I've made is creating separate wav files for each song on each album. I hope that I'm right in saying that I can, if needed recreate the CD using the multiple wav files and the cue sheet? Being able to recreate the CD exactly is important, so should I re-rip to a single wav file?
Here's the problems I've encountered:
1. Despite following the instructions here on Hydrogen Audio, EAC doesn't seem to want to compress the wav files to flac automatically as part of the ripping process. I have to do this separately. EAC stops when the extraction to wav has finished. External compression is enabled in EAC and all the options are set for flac (path, parameters etc)
2. Concerned that I may have archived my CDs incorrectly, I tested a few by creating a SINGLE wav from the CD and a corresponding cue sheet.. I then converted to flac and imported into WMP. However, the flac file is treated as one single song - I can't see a song list for the album at all. How do I subsequently divide the file or label the file with all the separate songs?
I'm not expecting a one click solution to this, just a way of getting from CD > WAV > FLAC (Or other lossless codec that is WMP12 compatible) > comprehensive library on WMC.
Hydrogen Audio has been great in gettng me this far - it's a great resource, and any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich.
