I am a newbie to the world of Mp3 players,ID3 tags,etc.............

just bought a COWON D2+ and was told to only use ID3v2.3 tags.....but not really so sure about them or ID3 tags in general...........

could someone fully describe what a ID3v2.3 is...........???? Is it just like extra data/info about the song itself ??? or??

Or maybe can someone direct me to a place (Newbie Forum,website,etc) that has descriptions for all these ID3 things.......

and besides Media monkey is there a simpler software to convert older ID3 tags into 2.3 tags or just to tag 2.3 onto a new file??
