I have a bunch of files that I encoded to flac a while ago and I'm pretty paranoid about fiddling with them even though I'm being unreasonable lol. If I transcode these files from flac 1.1 to 1.2, what will I gain/lose? Is there any reason why I should or should not change to 1.2?

you'll gain (most likley) a little more compression and lose some time doing the transcode.

If it was me in your situation, i would backup the existing 1.1 flacs to an external and just setup up the transcode to happen over night and keep the backups for a month just incase something went wavy gravy on the transcode.
