hi, I am trying to rip an audio cd to flac with foobar but the resulting flac files do not have tags. foobar doesn't get tags neither from freedb nor discogs (I also entered the websites for freedb and discogs and the album [Luna Amara - Don't let your dreams fall asleep] isn't in their database so it's no wonder foobar doesn't find it). What I do not understand is why is my winamp able to find the tags, where does it get them from? When I insert the audio cd and open it with winamp, it displays the name of the track, the year and so on. Does winamp use something different from freedb and discogs? is it a way I can get foobar to use it too? or are the names of the tracks also on the audio cd and winamp reads them from there?
I have to mention I am "newbie". I hope this hasn't been answered somewhere else, Ive searched the forums regarding these questions but haven't been able to clarify them, please help

Not sure where winamp gets the tags from since i never used it longer than 30 minutes, but you can try this plugin to read the tags from CD text.

Winamp uses Gracenote rather than freedb.

Winamp uses Gracenote rather than freedb.

thank you for the info! I just visited Gracenote.com and searched for the album but it isn't in their database either so i must conclude that winamp was reading the tags from the cd. But with CD-TEXT Reader I can do that with foobar too biggrin.gif
