Full Version: How to encode APE Extrahigh w/ EAC?

I'm making backups of some cds, and want to encode them w/ monkey's using the extrahigh setting. I'm using EAC to rip the disks, but when using the Monkey 3.97 dll with eac I only get the options fast, normal, and high, no extra high.

I realize I can use the mac.exe as an external encoder with eac to use extra high, but I haven't been able to get eac to tag the files using ape2 tags with this method. I can click 'add id3 tag' and I'll get id3 tags, but if I don't click it I get no tags.

So is there any way to either: use extra high with the dll, or get mac.exe to tag w/ ape2 when using eac? Thanks.

Use MAC.exe and Case's Wapet

Monkey's Audio with APEv2 tags :
3. Set file extension to .ape
4. Locate 'wapet.exe'
5. Use command line %d -t "Artist=%a" -t "Title=%t" -t "Album=%g" -t "Year=%y" -t "Track=%n" -t "Genre=%m" mac.exe %s %d -c5000
note: if mac.exe isn't in search path you need to specify full path for it.

hey, thanks alot! That seems to work. I would have never figured that out on my own, either wink.gif

One thing though: using -c5000 invokes the 'insane' mode of Franks 3.96b6 mac.exe.. which is cool, except I can't seem to playback files encoded with insane? using -c4000 works fine, but with a slight compression loss.

Well I used 3.97. But moved to Flac

I'm also trying to achieve, with EAC, extra high with the dll, or wapet to tag w/ regular ape tags since ape2 tags can't be read by the APE 2.97 Winamp plugin.

Is this possible?

I know Foobar can read ape2 tags, but I'm only interested in a Winamp compatable solution.
