The designs are new, but let's hope iRiver has made serious improvements to functionality as well. I see that two of the products seem to be using a slick new menu system. As an iRiver International Supporter, I may be fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these devices soon. wink.gif By the way, for anyone who can fluently translate from German to English, would you be kind enough to translate the comments at the bottom of the pictures?

Bis zu 1,5 GB Daten in Form von MP3-, WMA- und AAC-Files passen auf das wechselbare IBM-Microdrive des iGP-100.

iRiver knows whatīs good...

Edit: You can get better info here:

Seems the high capacity model will support AAC too. smile.gif

thats true. the thing with the ibm microdrive rocks. if they would only hurry up a bit with the vorbis firmware

I'm not so sure about the IBM MicroDrive choice. Those things consume a lot of battery power, which means less playing time on a single charge. I think CompactFlash would have been a better idea.

The microdrive supports 1.5Gb. Itīs for a different market than compact flash players - that support much less.

Although they are rather expensive, there are high capacity CompactFlash cards out there ranging from 1 GB to 4 GB. And flash memory technology is faster than hard drive technology...

No, this is not true in every case. Check out http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/
My 1GB microdrive is fast. In fact, it's the fastest of 22 cards (write) on that very page.

You can get a rough translation by cut'n'paste into a window at www.altavista.com, click on translation.
Normally they can just take a url and translate the whole page, but for some reason that wasn't working.

Anyway, here is an example. It's a little rough, but that mostly makes for entertainment.
Note it mentions "optical entrance and exit" so is that digital I/O?

Power station of the small wonderwork is an inserted rechargeable lithium polymer battery. In the iHP-100 a radio is just as integrated as the optical entrance and exit. 9 Equalizer pre-setting (1 of it freely definably) is to provide for the completely individual hearing taste

not bad. Although the design... always this black and plastic silver combination :-/ I think I still prefer the 400 in wine red... ohmy.gif The 500 looks a bit like... uh... IKEA biggrin.gif Or some sort of modern art biggrin.gif But both hdd players seem to be very cool smile.gif

I think I am most interested in that iGP-100. It sure looks neato misquito! blink.gif and YAY for AAC support! smile.gif Plus, look at the new screen! That's sweet looking! PLUS you can change the microdrive if the one that comes with it brakes, or even take a few with you that each re packed to the brim with files smile.gif

p.s. I only wish they'd make these things use USB2 instead. mad.gif
