Compression didn't always mean bad, just depends on how to use it.

Honestly, IMO most of the new released CD intentionally worsen the quality, an example is the ultra-high sound level (almost pushed to top level that CD can hold), I don't know it's a result of the equalizer or not, but it sure worsen the quality.
