Firstly I'd like to say hi to everyone at HA.

My problem is this;

I have a 2000 corsa car which has a blaupunkt cassette radio which is fully functioning. I chose to replace that with a Delco CDR 500 model. It should be a straight swap, out with the old and in with the new but when i remove the old cassette/radio and put the new one in, and switch it on, it flashes on and off on the screen where the time/date/audio information is displayed (See pic H E R E ) Ive tried taking it out and back in again but no success, i don't know if a fuse has gone on the cd/radio or if not unplugging the battery has anything to do with it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Fuses generally aren't intermittant - a blown fuse should mean no power gets through at all. Is the new deck known good (as in previously tested successfully in a different vehicle)? You may have a defective deck.

thanks for the reply, but somehow, shorty after posting, i gave it a second try, and the flashing stopped, BUT, im getting nothing from the cd/radio, no radio or cd functions, it just lights up, but there is a disc stuck inside it, would that have something to do with it?

You may need to enter a security code.

I believe your stereo has an anti-theft security code that needs to be entered any time power is lost.

If you don't have the documentation, you may have to get the code from a GM dealer. (Or, maybe any shop that installs car batteries has these codes???) I assume that code is referenced to the vehicle identification number for the car that the stereo came out of. But, maybe the dealer can look-up the number from the serial number on the stereo.
