Hi,

for my father I'm looking for a very easy to use MP3 encoder program.

What I basically want is a program that looks for .wav files in directory A and makes .mp3 files with the same name in directory B.
.wav file in directory A should be automatically deleted in directory B.
Program should only work when started and cleanly exit when stopped.
Encoding should resume or be restarted when program is started again, original files should never be lost when there is no MP3 file.
Interface should not be complicated, I think a big start button and a menu item for configuring input/output dir is enough.

Is there something like that anywhere?

Try lamedropXPd3..AFAIK, it doesn't look for wav(s) specifically, it's a drag n drop app/tool encoder..You can choose the output folder and have it delete the input after conversion..Also AFAIK it doesn't resume/restart the previous process..However it works, and it's free... dry.gif

I would write a simple "bat" file and add a desktop shortcut. That's just me... You might want something prettier or more complicated.

Lately, I've been using XRECODE, which is just "drag & click" I'm using the older FREE version. The current version XRECODE II is $15 USD.

XRECODE can convert between several different formats, but it remembers the previous format & settings. So if you're not changing anything, it's just a matter of dragging-in the file(s) and clicking 'OK'.

I also have RazorLAME which is equally easy.

Both of these give you the option of keeping or deleting the original file.

And, take a look at the "LAME frontends" here.

foobar2000 is about as simple as you can get with the added functoinality of being able to play the mp3s back to you.
