Full Version: Does anyone have accurate sales figures for slotMusic?

I am interested to see how well this format is doing. If my memory is correct this format was introduce about a year ago. If any has any sales data for the slotMusic format please post. I would also be like hear from any slotMusic users experience with the format.

It's not really a new "format", but a new way of presenting and transporting music.

The RIAA keeps track of this stuff, and they have a chart for 2007 & 2008 (U.S.) sales. As of 2008, they don't show a category for slotMusic and there is no "other" category.

At the end of 2008, CDs were still dominating in terms of dollars and in terms of units. Downloads are are increasing while CDs are decreasing, but it looks like it will be a few more years before downloads or any other format catches-up.

I would guess if slotMusic was huge a success the RIAA would release those facts to support a propaganda campaign to continue the adoption of this inferior format. Who in their right minds wants to keep track of 100 tiny SD cards when there are convenient and viable alternatives for portable players such as high capacity flash drive or hard drive base units.
