Dear All,

May I ask for consideration between these 2 speaker model:
- Klipsch Promedia 2.1
- Acoustic Energy Aego M

I will use it mainly for music listening (classic, jazz, pop, slow rock).

Thanks in advance,
Agus Rianto

I've got the Promedia 2.1 system. It's got a slight bass boost but overall I like the system a lot.

The promedia are also one of the few that have proper tweeters. I was also happy with the Promedia 2.1 I had, but the volume knob gets "scratchy" after a while, which seems to be a common complaint. Also, it sucks that you can only turn the speakers off from the back of the sub.

Yes, I wouldn't get a Promedia 2.1 because of the volume knob issue. To the OP: since you are using it mainly for music, have you considered getting a higher quality 2.0 system, such as the M-Audio AV40, instead?

No, I haven't considered it before Sir because I don't know it yet.
So I assume this model is more recommended than Klipsch and Accoustic Energy (for music listening)?

Thanks in advance

Yes, the AV 40 is highly regarded for music listening at this price point. If you don't need the ultra-low frequency "thumps" for games and certain genres of movies, the AV 40 does outshines them (mind you, games and movies sounds great on the AV 40 too). Anyway, you can always add a subwoofer after the fact, if you want to.

I don't know about the scratchy volume knob but I will point out two irritating problems with the Klipsch 2.1

1. Power switch is on the back of the sub. I have no interest in leaving my speakers on 24/7 and Powering the system on and off is a nuisance. I actually use my speakers a lot less than I might because of this. Maybe this is why my volume knob is not scratchy yet smile.gif

2. There is one proprietary cable and the output cables from the sub to the speakers are cheaply made. Sometimes I have to jiggle the speaker cables for both channel to work. It is easy to remake the sub to speaker cable, but Klipsh's design choices are rubbish.

I like the sound of the Klipsch 2.1 system. When I purchased it it seemed like the best sound/value out of the other 2.1 systems I've heard. But now that I know about the M-Audio AV 40 I'll audition those if the Klipsch system ever fails.
