The plugin only allows QuickTime Palyer to play FLAC files. It does not enable iTunes to play FLAC files. You still have to convert the files to WAV, MP3, AAC, or other iTunes type files. Use TwistedFlac to convert batches of FLAC to WAV.
No, you don't have to convert FLAC files to use them in iTunes. Just need to register them in database properly (link to article in first post explains that), and Fluke app is the simplest way to go.
TwistedFlac is an interesting option too (never heard of it earlier), but did you really had to mention it in 3-year old thread...?
