Ive been using flac for years now but today I've hit a bit of a snag with some files I'm trying to decode to WAV. I don't know if they didn't download completely or what but if I try to decode a file it says "The above file name is invalid". I went to the folder and I had difficulty playing the files at first then all of a sudden they played in winamp ok. If I right click on a file sometimes it gives me full options such as rename, delete, etc but other times it only gives me playback options. Anyone know what is going on here?

It might be helpful if you post the complete file name and path.

There are a lot of files. It's a collection of Elvis Presley studio sessions, 8 discs long. I seem to be having problems with most of the discs.

An example of a file name is: "01 - Elvis Presley - Shake Rattle And Roll (Takes 1, 2, 3, 5).flac"
The path is: "G:\Bootlegs\Elvis Presley - There's Always Me Vol. 1-4 (RCA Studio Sessions 1956-70) 8CD STU\Elvis Presley - There's Always Me Vol. 1 (RCA Studio Sessions 1956-70) 2CD STU\Elvis Presley - There's Always Me 1-1"

It is on an external hard drive which is not the problem. I have decoded many flac files from this drive, before and since this problem occurred.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I didnīt count the letters but with folders and songname it may reach your OS maximum lenght. Depending on how long the songtitle is it may just be to long.
Try to move the album itself a bit lower in folder structure and try again.

Edit: I mean your OS may handle that but some applications may have their limit with that.

I count 209 characters in the path.

And 276 chars with filename. wink.gif

And the max* for Windows NTFS file system is something like 255 characters after the drive root (G:)
