For those that don't know xrecode yet, I'd say that the software is basically a convenient transcoding utility (you convert from an audio format to an other)

Since version 1.0.0.64 the author have added two features to his software I like:
- support of lossyWav (useful ? at least nice to have)
- announcements .

The second feature "announcements" need some explanations.
Have you heard of the voiceover feature of latest Ipod Shufle ?
Basically the ipod announce the title of each tracks, using text to speech.

Now you don't need to buy the latest ipod shuffle to enjoy this feature.
You can append to each track the title announcement using xrecode,
and then transfer them to your favorite mp3 player.
Now you can close your eyes , and know what is currently played.

Off course I advise to change the default Anna voice, but unfortunately
the best voice available are usually commercial. I'm thinking especially of AT&T Natural Voices.

I think I'll stick with the old free version. wink.gif The price is reasonable, but I think it's a GUI front-end for a bunch of unlicensed open source codecs.

You can still use the new version for free. You just have to bear the little nag screen (10 second of waiting) .

Old version was removed from official website it seems.
