Ok, when I saw dBpowerAMP used --alt presets, I thought it'd be worth a try. When I do, I see I get files completely different than the ones I encoded with razorlame. I used encspot to see what was up(the first thing I noticed was filesize), and I saw that while the --alt preset extreme MP3 I had encoded with razorlame had been perfectly spread out with the bitrates, using mostly 192k-256k like it usually does, the one I made with dBpowerAMP, made an MP3 with practically nothing on any bitrate but 128k, with --alt preset extreme. This happened a lot of times.

The next MP3 I had made, again, razorlame had the bits spread out nicely with --alt preset extreme, and this time, dBpowerAMP, had it all 224k, and practically none of any other bitrate.

What am I doing wrong here with the presets?

Here is the screen after I hit --alt preset extreme

Normal.

Now here is the wierd one. After I hit Ok, I get this screen. Without modifying anything, after choosing --alt preset extreme and hitting Ok, it has the frequency set to 32000 KHz, and the VBR set at 128k-224k, which I know is not --alt preset extreme. Yet this is what shows up everytime I choose --alt preset extreme.

How can I get dBpowerAMP to work right with the presets, like razorlame would, or doing it from the command line would; what am I doing wrong? Thanks smile.gif blink.gif

Even with 44.1 mode on alt-preset standard (and may be others) are not implemented well in dbPowerAmp! You can't get more than 224kbps in this mode. This bug is probably 1 year old.. but since not many people complain I guess it will never will be fixed. (Heh, here come open source ideas)...
Hence, you best bet is to ask john33 to create an updated LameDropXPd with all the stuff current OggDropXPd has...

Thanks, I've been using dBpowerAMP to avoid having so many audio programs, I'll keep easyLAME for the MP3s, dBpowerAMP for the rest.

Any other codecs in the program have a problem?

Thanks all smile.gif

Found the problem, the VBR flag was being set as well as ALT prefix, it was this that was mucking it up. I will release the update Tuesday (after I have tested every other prefix) on the dBpowerAMP Beta Forum.

Cool, I browsed the forum(before I saw the link here), and found it. The presets work flawlessly biggrin.gif. The bitrate overall was 5 bits lower compared to razorlame with lame but that's because razorlame is using 3.90.2 anyways, thanks for the fix, I'll be usin' this... smile.gif
