Hi!

I have one question.

My "lines" in EAC using external encoder (lame 3.98.2) don't function any more, so I have copied lame_enc.dll to EAC folder and now I am using lame in waweform codecs window in compression options. I have selected fast extreame preset (same as V 0 in "lines") and in dll window i have selected "joint stereo" and everything i usualy like. I have ripped one same file i have ripped before with "lines" and compared them in EncSpot and everything is the same.
I had read somwhere that is recomended using external encoder and I wonder why? Only diference i notce is that in ths "new way" EAC isn't creating first wawe file and then turning it into mp3 using lame...now EAC is creating mp3 file without creating wawe.

Anyone knows does these 2 procedures create mp3 files of same quality or using external encoder with "lines" is beter, and why?

Thanx

p.s. Sorry for my English

If the same LAME version is compiled as DLL and EXE there should be no difference in quality if you can set the same encode options. The commandline version (.exe) gives you more options and configurability to set a custom commandline or to get LAME to do the tagging. I presume it's still possible to generate the hash code to verify the rips on AccurateRip while encoding on the fly, so that shouldn't be a problem. I imagine it's possible to generate the gapless information in advance, given the TOC information alone, so that shouldn't be a drawback. I think john33 has created a LAME DLL using INI files to set the encoder options, which should help ensure you have the exact options you need.

Yes, I have set same encoding options...and everything seems right. But i saw somwhere that "old type" of ripping is recomended over on the fly so I was just wondering. But I think it's the same thing

Thank you

External encoder with additional command line options -V0 %s %d should function perfectly. It is the same as preset fast extreme in v3.98. Anything else you'd add to the command line is probably superfluous or useless anyhow. It seems like you're creating an issue when there doesn't need to be one. smile.gif
