I have been trying to figure out how to sort my playlists by date, but for some reason I can't get it to work. I thought I would have to change 'Sort incoming files by' either in 'General' or 'Columns UI' to %date%, but this had no effect. Foobar still sorts the playlist by the folder names. If I click Date it sorts the playlist correctly, but when a new playlist is generated it sorts by folder names again. Same goes for 'Edit > Sort'. So, how do I change it so Foobar always sorts by date? I have searched and found I many apparent solutions to this, but none worked.

A while back I used MediaMonkey for pretty much everything, but for the past months foobar has taken over more and more when it comes to playing and organizing my music library. The only thing I use MediaMonkey for now is transferring songs to my iPhone 3GS. My entire library is in FLAC so I need to transcode the songs to a lossy format before transferring, and since MediaMonkey does this on-the-fly it makes the process very easy. It also embeds album art into the files after they are converted. Is this possible with foobar?
