Full Version: Stream Corruption
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Lossy Audio Compression > MPC

Greetings,
mppdec claims the following when decoding one particular album:

mppdec: Stream was corrupted by an ID3 Version 2 tagger,

ignore 1075 words and 8 bits ...

Does anybody know how I can remove this corruption?
floyd
guess: try removing the id3v2 tag?

I've never had such an error.

Yes, remove the ID3v2 tags, for instance with Tag and Tag Frontend ("Remove all tags" / "Remove only ID3v2").

Maybe you also wanna tell the person who ripped the CD to turn off ID3 tagging and use APEv2 tags.

You won't believe it but if the solution was as simple as removing the ID3v2 Tag, I wouldn't have asked!
The problem is "a bit" more complicated, as it also occurs when I tag the affected files with APEv2 or when I completely remove all tags.

Any other (serious) suggestions?

Oh i see... so some actual content was overwritten by parts of the ID3v2 tag. In this case, i don't know a solution.

(edit: Well there would be one, that is, creating a new header and replacing the corrupt musical content with 0-bytes, a la VBRfix for MP3, maybe you can ask Frank Klemm if he'd program such a tool.)

Isn't it possible to just cut off the part of the file where
the corrupt ID3v2 tag is located (the tail I think)?

Edit: Never mind! I managed to remove the prepended tag with
tag --removeid3v2 ...
