What's the fastest way to convert? I've tried using DBPowerAMP but it takes a long long time to convert. Also im planning on using 64kbps ogg file, is this cd audio quality? Thanks and regards. smile.gif

Why do you want to convert your mp3's to Vorbis?

For quality reasons, this is a very, very bad idea.

I'm running out of HD space and wanted to temporarily compress my mp3's to either ogg or wma9. Don't worry I still have the original MP3's on CD. Sometimes I'm tired of putting my mp3's on the cdrom just to listen. That's why I wanted to convert so I can put all my collection on the HD. smile.gif

None of the options you've suggested are CD quality, probably including the original mp3 files. Ogg, for example, can get quite good at 64kbps (especially when you consider just how small the file is compared to the original!), but it's definitely not CD quality. And transcoding from mp3 to ogg -q0 will fall far short of CD quality.

Forgive me, for I have transcoded!

I started with a higher bitrate mp3 and transcoded to a lower bitrate ogg to save space. (This was only done where the mp3 was the only source I had.)

I used Speek's Multi-frontend to handle the job. Use it with LAME.EXE and OGGENC.EXE and TAG.EXE. This combination will make ogg files from the mp3 files and copy the ID3 tags to the Ogg Comments tags.

You can get the programs and links to all the programs you'll need from here:

Remember: Never share files that have been transcoded from lossy; keep them for your own use only. And whenever possible, always encode from the original or a lossless copy from the original.

Cheers!

Yes -q0 gives CD quality - when your ears are full of water of smth like that. biggrin.gif This quality hass advantage of less used sapce much less. And lack of quality. Choose, but wisely... And remember - transcoding is the very last thing you should do with your collection.

It's not 25 kbps but quality 25 since you want a 64 kbps file so I suggest you WMA9Pro (not WMA9)

WMA9Pro cuts off at 18 kHz, not CD Q, but it's not bad at all for your PC speaker!
WMA9 cuts off at 13 kHz, +more pre-echo

Aren't you using DbpowerAMP, ummmh better go for eye checkup, something must be very wrong with you

but you can get the newest version 1.3b here
