Full Version: weird playback problem with some MPCs

Sometimes when I play certain MPC files back in WinAmp (this occurs in all versions of the plugin that I've tried) where there is silence in the beginning of the file WinAmp will "skip" forward to anywhere between 10 and 40 seconds into the file and play from there. I've noticed this on the first tracks of many albums I've encoded but the common link is the silence in the beginning of the track. Unfortunately it doesn't just skip the silence -- it also skips past part of the song. After the song is playing, however, I can seek back to the beginning of the track and it will play it fine all the way through. Has anyone else noticed this and if so know why this might be happening?

Thanks,
Nick

Hmm..are you by chance using Sqr Advanced Crossfading output? Sometimes it's set to cut out the silence at the beginning of a track, and consequently cuts out audible material by accident. Just a stab in the dark, I'm sure you probably would've checked that first. smile.gif

Thanks - That was it. Normally I'd check something like this but for some reason I never did. Oh well - didn't drink enough coffee this week I guess smile.gif.

It's always the simple stuff that gets you.
