I like Mpeg Audio Collection very much, but it seems, that it reads APEv2 tags only with APE and MPC and fails to do it with mp3 sad.gif Possible ways out? (I use v2.90)
Gambit
I know the source was available, so you could modify the source. It shouldn't be very difficult. I could take a look at it but I don't have the latest source.

Well, first of all, I am not a programmer at all. And secondly, jfaul.de is not responding... So I have no idea where to find source sad.gif
floyd
i think ape2 tags for mp3 are only supported by foobar2k.
Gambit
If anybody has the latest source (I think it was alpha 7) please send it to my mail.

Can anyone point me to the command line to force this? I want to see if Media Center can read apev2 tags in mp3. It does read them now according to Matt.

Download Tag and use the following command line:
tag --remove --force ape2 *.mp3

That will remove all existing tags on your MP3s, then create an APE2 tag from the info in the old tags.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

I also thought I had seen a thread about using EAC to do this from the get go. Hmmm, maybe it wasn't here.

Found it at Cases' site.

Could someone tell me what 'wapet' is, and why it is needed to force these tags in EAC?

Wapet is a tool I made that allows writing APE tag easily to any format from within CD ripping programs. As you know, EAC doesn't support writing APE tags (only ID3) and other encoders than mppenc don't support writing these tags either. Wapet takes care of this problem by being able to call any encoder with any settings and providing means of writing tags to encoded file immediately after encoding finishes.
If you wonder the weird name it comes from words 'wrapper', 'ape' and 'tagger'.

Case-

Thanks for the info!

PS - Since this is first time for me to try this test, do I just install wapet in one of the EAC folders? I'm going to assume so, but just want to make sure.

Media Center does read apev2 tags in mp3's. It doesn't specify the tag format like it does with mpc and Monkey's.

I will ask Matt (Monkey's creator and programmer for J River) to see if he can change how MC handles this.
