Having 'shuffle' enabled when you're playing songs from a playlist only randomly selects a song when you've listened through the song, not for example when your press 'next' as it'll just jump to the next song in the playlist and not choose randomly anymore.

Is this how it's supposed to be or an oversight somewhere?
If it's not an oversight, is there any way I can get it to hop to a random song in my playlist when hitting 'next'?

read the changelog or search the forums.
do you think you're the first person to have noticed this?

its intended functionality.

You can:

a) Use playback>random from menu
b) assign random to a keyboard key
c) set foobar to show buttons and use the Play button as the random/old next button when shuffle is on. Or use the play key if assigned as a keyboard shortcut.

Why, god.. WHY!?
*breaks down sobbing*

I'm always the first person noticing things. wink.gif
Such an excellent player can't have a behaviour so irked. Dagnabbit.

Ah well, guess I'll have to find a way to work around it somehow.

yeah, just use the play button. a bit strange, but no big deal.

Actually, use the "random" option. It's more logical. (Though there's no button. sad.gif)

I bet I am not the first to desire a change!!!

Can foobar use the winamp behaviour? huh.gif
Curi0us_George
Why don't you just use Winamp if that's what you want?

edit:

sorry, someone else had posted the answer.

It is the way Peter wants it. He was specific about this.
But he did provide a workaround. You will just have to get used to it. I am sure that you are using foobar for another reason. I miss winamp's ability to play my mp3s gaplessly buth there are enough strong reasons to me to use foobar.
You just have to decide what's more important to you.

I just found this topic while searching for another, and wanted to say that I feel very comfortable with the random in v0.7 biggrin.gif

Thanks

?

...Such as foobar's gapless mp3 tag reading ability, or the third-party gapless DSP component?
