Full Version: sound glitches when using keyboard o_O

Okay, I've got a problem, the sound is acting weird when I'm typing on my keyboard, it's as if the music played the same few milliseconds a few times, and then continued normally. pretty much like a buffer underrun actually.
I have the same problem using windows 2k or XP, drivers 203 or 607 for My fortissimo II, with winamp, foobar and BSplayer. I also tried to increase the buffer in these apps, but still the same problem...

Also, it doesn't happen each time I press a key, but at least once a minute, whereas it never happens if I don't touch the keyboard.

my PC:
NF7 (Nforce2)
XP 1800+ @ 1900 Mhz
512 Mo DDR
Hercules Fortissimo II

can somebody help me please ? Any idea is welcome, this thing really drives me crazy !
thanx

hi, i have the same problem since i changed the motherboard...

and now we have the same motherboard sad.gif

Something related to it... ah, and i use the integrated audio.
BlueScreenJunky
okay, it comes from the motherboard then, have you tried updating the BIOS ? I'm still using 1.0, if I can find a floppy drive somewhere I'll try to flash it, but if you've already tried that please let me know, 'cause I don't like to do it.

Sound's like your basic IO functions are taking priority on the system bus. In other words, your motherboard seems to care more about keyboard input than getting data to the onboard sound. As well it should. However, this shouldn't cause problems like this. I used to have a US Robotics Winmodem with an onboard speaker in an ISA slot on an old machine, it continuously made a low level noise that got louder with mouse movement and during use of my ISA SB AWE 64. Annoying it was. In the end I just got rid of the modem.

Anyway: Seek out a BIOS update, and ensure the mobo manufacturer is aware of this. Also try adjusting PCI latency and other strange looking settings in your BIOS.

Try mute
"Line-in"
"Microphone"
"CD-Audio"

i hope it can help ya. ph34r.gif Nin nin....

nope, already tried that, thanx anyway. I guess Thikasabrik is right, and I hope it can be fixed through a bios update (gotta borrow a floppy drive though). If not I might buy an Audigy 2 and pray for it to work with my mother board.
BlueScreenJunky
okay, I updated my BIOS to 1.6....... and still the same problem. I think I'll buy an audigy 2 and pray for it to work correctly :-)

Does your motherboard have integrated audio?
BlueScreenJunky
Yes, but it's desactivated in the BIOS settings, and the drivers are not installed.
btw the audio on the NF7 (not S) is the worst I've ever seen (or heard ^^) : you can hear HDD access and even your USB mouse !!! and of course the sound itself is more... flat (does that mean anything ?).
