Can somebody help me in setting up MPC software on my System. I downloaded a MPC software bundle from www.musepac, which after many attempts to get it working(problems with tablct file) made a recording and it sounded pretty naff compared to my usual Lame MP3 setup. I used EAC to Rip and played back with Foobar. I'm not sure if the software bundle contains latest vesion of available MPC software, or possible I messed up with all the switch settings etc. Please explain what I need to download, what if any Coniguration/ setup procedures I need to go through for highest quality, regardless of size. Also will I be able to play MPC and MP3 from the same Playlist, I use Foobar, Winamp or DB Player. I'm not sure if I have explained my requirements fully, but maybe if I can get some responses from you I will be able to zero in on specific points.
Eagerly awaiting your assistance, OSMAR.

If you already have dBplayer, try dBpowerAMP Music Converter with the musepack codec from Codec Central - it has the latest mpc codecs and a simple setup page.

OSMAR, read MPC forum: there's a list of recommended Musepack versions.
Download it.
Launch EAC (hope, you don't need to be explained, how to tune it's general options, otherwise read FAQ in general forum).
go to EAC-compression options-external compressor and do something like that:
set "on" Use external... option; User Defined encoder (parameter passing scheme); ".mpc" extension, set path to Mppenc.exe.
Use this command line "--normal --xlevel --deleteinput --ape2 --artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%g" --year "%y" --track "%n" --genre "%m" %s" or set your own (mine is tuned well enough)
Bitrate: 192 kbps (not needful, but will help you to estimate size of compressed files).
Uncheck all boxes below (just in order not to spoil anything).
Use EAC to rip and encode. (You could also need TAG or Foobar2000 to edit some tag information/rename files).
Sure, you can use MPC and MP3 files at the same time with both Winamp2 and FB (I don't use Db poweramp, it's buggy with big fonts).
About settings: feel free to use "--normal --xlevel" (in my line). Or switch to loseless codec smile.gif
And, damn... Read FAQs and forums carefully smile.gif
(feel free to ask questions by e-mail (sacrat@newmail.ru), as many "aged" forum users are tired of answering the same questions smile.gif

Everything is here:

I would start using quality 5, and move your way up from there if you hear anything wrong with that. If quality is your highest concearn, use lossless compression.

Thanks for the 3 Forum members who helped me with my posted cry for help.
I am now happily Musepaking away and very pleased with the results.
I am using this command line with EAC CD copy and Audiograbber for my Vinyl Archiving project -

--quality 7 --xlevel --ape2 --artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%g" --genre "%m" %s

Is this OK ?

There is the command line I use. You can try it if you wish. I got it from another thread somewhere on here. tongue.gif

--ape2 switch is not necessary. It is default tag format.
