Hey I have a quick qn for the experts:

I am just startng with EAC and after all the readings I am really ashamed that I have not used it. Well, I do not really rip CDs, but mainly d/l mp3z and make CDs.
So my questions is I tried to decompress mp3 to wavs so that i burn them, however I get this error in EAC (at 0059934C -> ACCESS VIOLATION). Went to EAC website, in the FAK its says that I gotta choose the Fraunhofer MP3 Codec to decompress. So that means I cannot use LAME to decompress?? Strange. HOw come then CDex, using lame I am able to decompress and compress mp3z ???

Check in your Windows control panel: sound and multimedia->hardware->audio codecs
if there is some sort of Ogg/Vorbis codec there, try disable it

(also it is always a good idea to make a search in EAC forum)

P.S. if you throw lame.exe in EAC folder then it will use this lame.exe to decompress. D.S.

I only use EAC for ripping CDs.

I use Ahead's Nero Burning ROM to burn the Cds.

I use these plug-ins to burn whatever format I use on the fly..

all my lame files are in the eac folder...

I did got to search in the EAC forum - quite some ppl have the same problem - still could not find THE SOLUTIOn - since none of the suggestions have worked for a person there . i am not at my own PC now so I'll try to go to fix what u suggest in the Control Panel.
Also, readin in the EAC forum I was left w/ the impression that u actually have to remove the lame files off the EAC dir and choose another decoder life Farenheight )
So now I am thinking would it be better if i just use Feurio to do the burning of my Audio off d/led mp3, since its decoding options are good?

Nero does everything you need it to as far as I can tell.. and why not use the new plug ins? which use LAME. Anybody who thinks Feurio does a better job with burning audio cds has no proof. Perhaps Feurio rips cds better, but as I said, you'll wanna stick with EAC for rippin..

OK. Bad luck... It's hard to give good advice because it could be a different problem every time, although the error message is the same. That trick with Vorbis codec ("Nimo codec" was it?) popped up in my mind as it was perhaps the least obvious. But in your case the problem could be anything else...

Could you please drop a message here or on EAC forum if you happen to find the solution.


yes, why not. Feurio or Nero - these are very good programs for burninng.

Damn it. I could not find the solution. Also Feurio does not work under XP !!! Or at least does not support my crappy burner. I guess I ll be stuck w/ NEro. Also diableing the codecs stuff -DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. I am thinking could it be because I have that NIMO codec pak -- I know itsd some kinda cracked codec pack ....

OK, just to make sure:
Did you try to remove Nimo/Ogg codecs in control panel (i.e. not just disable)?
Did you try completely unintstall the Nimo pack?

Dude, Spoon is THE dBpowerAMP developer. You just made an ass of yourself.
He is a respected guy in this forum. He is offering you a perfect solution. I you had already done your homework and read the EXTENSIVE documentation there is about all this issues you are bringing up, you would know that the Fraunhofer is alright for DECODING, which is what you want to do.
So far everybody has been very helpful to you, even if you are asking nothing new.
Try to be nicer (and check your spelling).

As far as dBpowerAMP, i HAVE the right to express an opinion. If I have been dissatisfied with it, I can choose not to use it. I have had really bad experiences with it and I do not want to deal w/ it.

I tried to do my homewort and could not find ananswer to my qn. Often the search engines of forums do not give you what you need. So I desided to make a new post ..

And so far everybody HAS been VERY helpful and I would like to thank everybody for that.

As far as Fraunhofer, i know it does the job well, however, I wanted to do it w/ EAC and LAME encoder.

As far as DECODING goes, (that is DECOMPRESSING) mp3's, the FGH decoder gives the same results as LAME.

ENCODING is a different issue, LAME is the way to go no question about it.
