Hello everybody!

Right at the topic: I applied Track mp3gain sad.gif to some tracks by mistake, how could I remove it in order to do Album mp3gain afterwards?
Thanks
CiTay
I'm afraid you can't. The changes are directly applied to the MP3 file, and there is no undo function yet. sad.gif

BTW, what album is that? Maybe someone else also has it and can tell you the album gain values... heh. But i can think of more severe mishaps than using track gain on some MP3s.

You can't if you don't know what gain was applied to the files.

Thanx for the fast reply.
It seems that I've f****d up my tracks, next time I'll be more careful.

I don't see how mp3gain can screw up your tracks. If you're getting clipping issues with it, just apply max noclip gain.

He lost the intentional inter-track volume differences by using track gain on an album.

Sorry about that. The other replies are correct, but I'm ALMOST done with the automatic "Undo" feature. Seriously. I have the tag-writing code mostly working in the back end, I'm just putting it in the GUI now. Give me a week or so.

As for your current situation, if you haven't already deleted your files, make sure to check if you have a "Change log" set in MP3Gain (see "Options > Logs..."). If you do have a change log, you can manually restore your files. It's not too hard.

Glen, as i was reading the LAME tag specification again, i noticed the ReplayGain fields. Any way to put them to use?

Not a good idea I think. I tend to apply mp3Gain (for my DVD-player) and then replaygain for Foobar2000 playback...

Well, i was thinking about storing the gain changes there purely for the MP3gain undo function.

perhaps you could download small mp3 samples for each song using WinMX or something like that and adjust the gain until it's as loud as the downloaded portion of the file, then delete the 128Kb Xing Mp3s you d/loaded.

Hm, that seems like a not so good idea. As i just posted here, there's an encoding error, which leads to gain changes. This could accumulate to a full 1.5 dB step, with a low-quality encode... and don't forget your "ear error". biggrin.gif Also, many files you find on the net are crap... some are even recorded from the TV or radio.
