I think a WMA plugin is in the works.

I have trouble believing that Peter would devote his time to that, but then, I don't know the guy. It seems like an awful waste of time, though. As far as I can see, WMA has no advantages over MP3 (or OGG, or MPC).

Now why would you want an wma plugin? Really, I'm interested because I've never seen wmas on the net or on p2ps.

probably because they rip their cd collection to wma..or convert their existing audio files to wma to save space..that's what i did before and i regret doing it..i just saved some money and bought a bigger hard disk..

I would of thought people who encode to wma would be those who just used whatever their PC came with to rip ( i.e Media Player) and that they typically wouldnt end up using an app like FB2K...

Adding support for WMA is about as intrigueing as adding support for VQF.
I don't think I need to say more than that :B
If you want to save space - Use Vorbis.
Will an answer "I have several albums in WMA and they were not ripped by me" be enough to you? Unfortunately there are people still using WMA (I switched to MP3 several years ago, when LAME became available to me).

Still? I'm very sorry to say it, but wma is more popular than ever. :\

It wasn't Peter that was working on the plug. A search would show you who it was, but from the sounds of things, he'd rather keep things under wraps until it's ready to go.
My favourite netradio (www.dr.dk/p3) only sends out an .asx stream. Isn't it correct that i would need a .wma codec to read this stream with foobar2000??
if i wrote a wma plugin for foobar, shoud i pay m$ money?
and if we all use wma for our audio format, shoud we pay m$ money?
is there any difference between wma & other audio formats? u may say drm. but why do u store protection info in your wma files?
i think to save space would be a reason which is enough for me to convert all my mp3(just mp3) to wma.
