...like the one that was available for winamp from shoutcast.com.
perhaps there should be a thread for plugin requests like this one?

And to clarify, you can do this in foobar *without* any plugins.

That will give you a tone for 1 second before going onto the next track. What is asked is for a null
output plugin, although for what purpose is beyond me.

I think what you really want is
CODE
silence://<seconds>
He wants that foobar do decoding of file but with no sound at all. This is a purpose of WinAMP's 'out_null.dll'.

The question would be why.
I can't see a purpose to a null output plugin for foobar. Is there a shoutcast plugin or something that I don't know about?

Yeah, well I meant other than that one.
If the use is indeed for this streaming plugin, wouldn´t it be enough to place volume control behind its dll and drag it to min? I´m not going to check this, though
silent tones and no volume are not viable options. the goal is to drive a icecast2 station via oddcast for foobar and then be able to listen to the stream from another player on the same machine (to verify that everything is ok). i also believe that for servers without soundcards a null output is the only option. this was an argument for the winamp plugin anyway.

No, psyqil was saying to run the plugin before the volume control. That way, the plugin broadcasts unaltered sound, and then the volume control kills the sound before it ever makes it to the speakers.
Obviously that won't work if the server doesn't have a soundcard, but then, you said that you wanted to listen on the same machine.
Yes, but then player still drives silence to your sound card. Not good if you don't enjoy occupying your sound card with silence during your broadcasts. Especially not good if this prevents the sound card from playing any other streams.
I'll see what I can do about this.

AFAIK it is directly included in the Standard Distribution (Installer) these days.
There should be a null output somewhere in your standard output options somewhere. (wave out, direct sound, null output, etc.)
