Last time I looked, there wasn't such a program like mp3gain. Is there now?

I do replaygain my music files (mp3s), but I don't reference the replaygain to 89 dB. Instead (as I do for my mp3s), I scan them for the level immediately below clipping, and let mp3gain set the gain by referencing against that level.

In this first place, is this a good technique?

Whether it is or not, is there a way to do this on my mpcs with the current set of software?

If there isn't, are there any plans to make one?

BTW I currently replaygain-scan my mpcs using Fb2k.

Hope no one has asked this before, then I won't get blasted for wasting time tongue.gif

dry.gif Of course there is
download ReplayGain v0.84 and put it preferrably in path (%WINDIR% or assigned).
now you use "replaygain --auto *.mpc" in each dir you'd like to replaygain.

Please check around on this forum before asking such questions, it should be fully covered in the MPC"List of recommended MPC settings" in the "General - (MPC)" forum.

Erm, what do I type into where?
Sorry, I was never good at commandlines. Always got away with copying and pasting.

wander up in commandline to the relevant directory and type that in there,
You could download "Cmd. here" and rightclick the relevant directory in your browser to get there faster.

Now it says it can't decode the mpc files. Any idea why? I don't assume it's something to do with --xlevel.
BTW what does the --auto switch do? Does it replaygain the mpcs to 89 dB? That's 'cos it wouldn't be the technique I'm looking for.

You need to put the MPC decoder in your windows directory to. Should work then.

available from www.ca5e.tk if you don't have it already.

Hope this helps.

You need to download the mpc decoder and place that binary with the replaygain one. This is because replaygain doesn't know how to decode the file itself. Just remember no redundant code is found in these puppies wink.gif

Remember also that the replaygain is dynamic and not hardcoded to the actual file, unlike mp3gain. It stores gain and peak values in the tag, this way you can dynamically set the headroom via decoder plugin. You can also set your title based gain value by using switch -300 to +300 (being in dB).

All due apologies. I realised that I needed the decoder late last night (1:45 am, GMT +8:00).
Sheesh.
Thanks for being so helpful biggrin.gif
I'll get down to playing around with the replaygain.
