Ok, I want to use foobar because winamp is getting a bit old and I like to use the new stuff. I currently use winamp 2.81 + mad decoder + albumlist.

I'd like to switch to foobar, but I have not because I cannot figure out whether I can replicate some of the 'nice' features that I enjoy from having winamp.

1) I also have trillian and I love the 'now playing' box that pops up in the corner of my screen. While foobar and trillian don't really need to talk to each other, I'd love some sort of disappearing pop-up when the song changes.

2) I use whatever hotkey plugin that winamp uses to be able to play, pause, stop, show/hide via hotkeys. Does foobar have that support or is there something out there that supports it?

3) I'm sure that foobar's database system can approximate what albumlist does - can someone confirm or deny?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to checking it out and I'm sure that people have thought of this stuff and found solutions so I'd love to hear them.

1. Done. Preferences -> Display -> System Tray -> Show balloon tooltips on song change

Although on my system, they don't ever seem to actually disappear. . .

2. Foobar supports global hotkeys. Preferences -> Keyboard shortcuts

3. What do you mean? The Album List is in foobar2000. Components -> Album List

Also, get Database Search (foo_dbsearch) and/or Meta Search (foo_shizzle)

They're on the 3rd party plugins page.

They dont dissapear here only when the computer is idle (xp sp1) which is fine, ad is how xp's own ballontips behave .

BTW, thanks Z for the balloon popups, I know I requested it a long time ago smile.gif Though I would like to reduce the time out for them.

It doesn't appear in my xp sad.gif

tooltips work great on my win2k sp3. I would also like to adjust the time for them as well.
voltron
you might have disabled them in windows settings or through tweak ui or something.

Don't cross fingers. Don't uninstall Winamp. Install fb. Don't associate files. Compare side-by-side.
