...or any tags at the beginning of the file. The problem is when the file is playing the ID tag cannot realistically be altered. When the tag at the back of the file it can edited whilst playing. Why edit when playing? any good music player will allow this as it is the time you are most likely to want to do it.

Ok it is fine for streaming, but say that 96% of all music played is not streaming.

I know it is not possible to change ogg tags, just pointing it out.

You just need to upgrade to a decent player. Foobar 2000, for example, will queue your updates until after the song is done playing.

Actually, poor old Winamp 2.8+ does this type of queueing too...
