So I have usb 1.1 on my motherboard, but i'm getting a usb 2.0 pci card for an external hard drive i'm going to use to back things up... would I be better off putting my M-Audio Sonica on a usb 2.0 port, or putting it on a 1.1 port on the motherboard? or does it make no difference at all?
(and if it changes anything, the USB harddrive won't even be connected when the soundcard is in use)

I recommend using the USB 2.0 board, because many of the earlier USB1.x controllers have proved a bit unreliable.

I don't know about this particular soundcard, but I remember Creative Extigy having problems with some controllers, so you will need to try both and decide which one works better.

It makes no different, period.

Probably makes no difference but try both and see what sounds better. Also just for grins, look at cpu usage.
cool, thanks for the tips!

Maybe it will make no difference on sound, but, for sure, you can have a much more longer cable when using USB2....
