if so could someone tell me how to do it

Broadcast or play?
Messer
And you want to...

a] ... listen to streaming audio? Just enter URL in playlist>add location. If radio is streaming mp3/ogg vorbis then foobar should play it fine. If it is real-audio/wma stream then foobar won't help.

b] ... use foobar as a source for some (shout/ice/peer)cast software? Use forum search and look for foo_oddcast plugin. Note that plugin won't work with latest beta, AFAIK there are only versions for 0.5x.

What file extension do I need to put in "Restrict incoming files to" to enable mp3 streaming? This is the address I'm adding... http://audio.str3am.com:4040

Works here with "*.cue;*.mp3;*.mpc;*.ogg;*.ape"
Tomkooo
thx, i wanted to listen to streaming audio - and i was wondering why it doesn't work, but it turned out to be wma stream sad.gif
Tomkooo
one more thing - how to se what song am i listening to(description of the song-artist and title), or is it impossible ???
superdumprob
I think what Tomkooo means is, is it possible to see what track is playing (i.e. display the song title and artist info etc) from an internet stream. Winamp does this (granted it's an option in the mp3 input plugin).
/\/ephaestous
no you can't because Winamp reads the ID3v2 tags which foobar doesn't support, there's a plugin though, but I don't know if it works when streaming
superdumprob
I tried the id3 v2 plugin myself but it didn't appear to work with streams, I couldn't find anything to do with streaming anywhere. But is it possible to implement it in the plugin somehow?

Thanks

Weird.

Is your Internet Explorer properly configured?

Do you have Internet Reader component installed?

No, I do believe Shoutcast has an extension outside of the actual audio stream for transmitting this information, which is not supported by the plug-in at this time. (Something that comes in a different packet than the audio, or something... meh, I have no idea.)

http://audio.str3am.com:4040/ ? Works fine here, 0.6b20 atm, can you post console output?
Messer
Seems to me that there's no easy way to workaround the problem. "Restrict incoming files" does not work very well with tracks that don't have extension. For example you can't add cdda:// tracks as well, neither from playlist, not from location dialog.
Messer
...but it works from commandline:
foobar2000.exe http://audio.str3am.com:4040/

edit: nah... sorry, does not work. I forgot that I don't have anything but '*' in "restrict files".

Oops. Me too. Btw, while weīre at it, I found http://205.188.242.162:80/stream/1030 to crash the player. The ip canīt be found, so itīs no loss, but it schouldnīt crash, does it?

There's "error opening ...", but no crash here (Win XP sp1, fb2k 0.6b20)...

Same setup, same message here. Eek, so itīs on my side mad.gif Thank you for trying nonetheless! wink.gif

Yeah, there is no console output, it just doesn't add it to the playlist. The "restrict files to" just seems like bad design to me. Perhaps there should be a group of check boxes (that Foobar can play)

Works here, too. Damn, that's a low quality stream.

Wow, looks like you found the secret message. I get the stream titles and station info too! None for you! Mwahahahaha!

This address: http://audio.str3am.com:4040/ pasted into the "add location" window works just fine with fb2k .6 for me. Console display follows:

INFO (CORE) : startup time: 563 ms
INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback : http://audio.str3am.com:4040/

Streaming: Is there a source for finding what stations broadcast MP3 and Ogg/Vorbis streams? Thta sure would be sweet.

Works for me too .... (Win2KPro, SP3, FB2K0.6)

And I agree that is a very low quality stream.
