Well. Is there any way of making mp3 radio station, that produce "--alt-preset standard" LAME encoded stream? What software needed, what OS and so on.

Thank you.
JohnV
I'm not an expert on this field, but i think you can use Oddcast as Lame --alt-presets (using lameenc.dll) input for shoutcast server.

Of course they are, if they pay proper licences.

who pays proper licenses?? certainly not the people that download the program and stream it directly from their computers rolleyes.gif

Hrm... Maybe JohnV is refering to MP3 streaming licenses, that should be payed to Thomson Multimedia.

oddcast is nice, but doesn't support --alt-presets.

I think it does, if you use this special .dll build and read the instructions in the dll-package.

It maps presets so that when you choose "normal"-preset, --alt-preset standard is used instead.

Actually, over-the-air radio stations must pay a fee to the PFOs (performance rights organizations) to obtain a license for public performance/broadcasting of the written music.

For some reason Internet radio is legally obligated to pay both that AND royalties to SoundExchange (RIAA) for license to play the recording of the music. It actually isn't that illogical (what *is* illogical is why air radio doesn't pay for using the recordings), but it's just rediculous how much more the RIAA is demanding for recording royalties as opposed to royalties for playing the compositions.

And, yes, you are "supposed" to pay a license to stream with MP3, being that it is a proprietary format.

There is no need to pay in post USSR countries ph34r.gif
