Isn't ACE a file compressor?

yeah, just use stuffit expander to expand the files, they are probably already be an archive of mp3's.

Stuffit doesn't support ACE.
http://www.stuffit.com/expander/macindex.html

The problem with ACE is that it's a shitty format which there aren't even decompressor sources available like, E.G, RAR.

People using Windows can use a (bad) decompressing DLL, or a free precompiled extractor. Linux x86 users will have to resort to a precompiled binary. Every other OS user will be left alone.

Ask these people that sent you the ACE files to use RAR or ZIP.

Roberto.

(Stuffit handles RAR, BTW)

yeah, you'll have to find a windows friend to extract the files for you, with winrar for example.

In the past (ACE 1.x) the decompressor sources were available.
If you're lucky and the archive is not ACE2, you can try UnACE from http://nicolas.sandri.free.fr/softwares/ (bottom).

When i'm on Linux i compress to bz2 and can decompress to pretty much anything including ACE i believe, though i have never tried it.

It seems Windows has .zip and .ace wheras Linux has .tar.gz or .bz2 as their main choices and as for Mac et cetera i don't know (.bin .hxq?). After buying XP Pro, but not wanting to spend any more cash or be illegal!!!, i run Nero (bundled), burnatonce, openoffice, mozilla, etc. What is the best free windows compressor/decompressor around? i am trying 7zip at the moment, are there any better ones around? that support multiple formats?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, i just thought it may be a good place to raise my question rateher than start a new thread.

Cheers,

Kristian
