Because foo and bar are commonly used terms, i just looked up in the internet for it's "history" and meaning.

so, does it mean, that foobar2000 is "fucked up beyond all repair 2000" ? biggrin.gif

I though it was parody of the Foo and Bar variables used in every programming course.

I just asked myself, how does the programer come to "foo" and "bar" which is obviously the word "fubar", which memans "fucked up beyond all repair" (coming from the 2nd WW) or it could be the english writing for an misspelled german word "furchtbar" (terrible).
