As stated in the topic I have a single WAV of the whole CD and the matching CUE sheet, is there a way to compress the WAV using the CUE; for example:
------
CUE:"my wav.wav"
tr1 "boo"
tr2 "foo"
------
my wav.wav
EAC -> boo.mpc foo.mpc
The only way I found is to split the WAV first...
P.S. EAC doesn't used freedb with WAV's is there a "fix" for it?
Thanks a-lot.
I think this may depend on which lossy format you want
I have been working on (.ape & .cue) -> .mp3 which Miles has written a batch file and explanation how to do it over
here It is suppose to work with (.wav & .cue) -> .mp3 as well although I have not tried
If you want to get musepack I think you should ask in that forum since I'm not that knowlegable for mpc files
Hope this helps
Hmm, I've read the thread, it seems the fix works for CUE supporting executables, that means no dice with musepack. It's damn weird EAC isn't capable of doing it....
Try using
foobar2000 with
Case's clienc plugin. This combo does an excellent job of transcoding lossless to lossy.
Does it support CUE with WAV and encoding into seperate files (cue as reference)?

Yes, it does. But there seems to be no way to split to every Index (0 and 1), only Index 1 is taken as cut-point - the pre-gaps cannot be left out.

Can you explain this?
Thanks.

We have to see (english is not my native language and reading is a bit different from couching in terms).
If you are creating a cue-file with EAC (for example), EAC tries to detect the pre-gaps - these are the gaps before each track, often up to 2 seconds long.
Before each track, EAC sets an Index 00, which sets the start-point of the gap (if there's any).
After the gap-time an index 01 is set, which places the track-start.
Index 00 >> gap >> Index 01 >> track >> Index 00 of next track >> pre-gap of next track >> ...
When you cannot split the different indices, your file will have the gap (i.e. silence) at its end (as far as i know the pre-gap of the next track).
Splitting with EAC (as you considered) and deleting every Index00-file (as i do it) is the right way to trash these silence.
At this time there seems to me no possibilty with foobar to avoid these appended gaps.
Thanks, got it; So I'll opt for the long route: EAC -> split WAV -> compress.

I suggest using Dameon Tools or CloneCD's virtual drive to mount the image and then rip with EAC

You'll see it is not so long after all, hehe (matter of seconds)
