Hi Vladdy,

You can try MediaJukebox (http://www.mediajukebox.com).
Along with the payware version ($25) you can download a free basic version.
This App will let you catalog and play your mpc/mp+ files as well as mp3, ogg, ape, etc.

I use it for my own collection made of mpc,ape,mp3 and I am very pleased with it so far.

Cheers

Hello.

I recommend MPEG Audio Collection. It's completely free and sports a variety of handy features - check it out. I use it to keep track of 3000+ files on multiple harddrives and CD-R's.

I tried it out and it seems a little pissed that I don't have Realplayer installed. I was quite happy to see that it supported all these different formats (Liquid Audio as well) but there's no way on God's green Earth I'm putting any Real software on this PC. I s there a way around this that you know of?

I also use Mpeg Audio Collection. Free and full of features and supports MPC...

Rant,

Well, MediaJukebox needs RealPlayer if you want to play real files. If you're only interested in mp3, mpc, ogg, ape or vqf you don't need Real Player.
On my system I only have MediaJukebox installed ( no Wmediaplayer, no real, no winamp) and I can enjoy my collection of roughly 5000 mp3, ape, mpc.

If you let MediaJukebox scan your HDD, and you have, by mistake wink.gif, some 'Real' files in your path, MJB will try to get the necessary software in order to play it (i.e. realplayer). What you should do is to uncheck all real files extensions (.ra, .rm...) in the import file type box.

Have a nice day.

Didn't work for me. It wouldn't recognize .mpc files at all. Not sure why it would have been asking to d/l Realplayer though because there's no Realmedia whatsoever on this HD. Not too worried about it though .... the program itself is a bit too bloated for my liking.

I second that. This program is simply great; supports various formats (including mpc).

Thanks all to those that responded..

That MPEG Audio Collection is pretty much perfect for what I want.. you can even export out as html.. Sensational.. Now if there were only a few slight extra features i'd be extremely happy.

Well, you're right about MJ Version 7 not being able to import .mpc files, although it can play them. MJ7 only supports the .mp
+ extension. The forthcoming MJ Version 8 (now beta) fully supports the mpc extension.
About that Real thing, I'm surprised since I just tried a fresh install of MJ7.2 and it did not ask to d/l anything from real ?
BTW what version did you try ? the current stable one is 7.2.280.

Cheers

so where do you find the 8.0 beta ?

Go to Mediajukebox forum (interact) and look for the threads about MJ 8.0 beta.

I tried 7.2.28. and it would neither import the .mpc files nor play them when I tried to browse to them using file, open. I'll give version 8 a try when it's out of beta.

MPEG audio collection is pretty good - depending on your needs for cataloqing.

Since my collection is rather large - and I have the need for categorizing, adding custom fields etc, I prefer media jukebox.

It is complex, because it is loaded with all kinds of sexy functionalities, that are so cool and not seen yet in any other player/jukebox.
