Can any one tell me if mp3gain is used on mp3pro files whether the 'gain' is applied to the mp3 part of the file or the whole file - thanks
It'll only be applied to the mp3 part, so the highs will be louder than the rest of the file.

Does it mean that "pro" and "standard" parts of frame uses separate gain values?

There's no way to make MP3Gain properly process MP3pro files.
I had not thought about making it skip them, though (the same way it skips mp1 and mp2 files by default).

Envelope data (energy value) is coded implicitly in the SBR bitstream, and without SBR specs for mp3Pro it is impossible to change the gain of the envelope data.
