Just checked the sticky, but not sure if I understand correctly. Do the presets need xlevel switch to be added to prevent clipping?

Yes, the --xlevel switch must be used in conjunction with the profiles (--standard, --xtreme, etc.) or --quality levels to prevent encoder-side clipping.
