okay basically this is what i want.

when i am playing a track, and i press stop, it closes the output. This resets the optical out on my sound card, to the point where it makes my minidisc record stop recording immediately, where as inserting a pause still results in a pause.

i would just use the pause between tracks, but for some reason there is something that is making my MD still record while there is silence (maybe it isnt silence totally?)

So basically i want an option that is like stop after current, but immediately (or like configurable seconds later) begins the next track.

it seems this would be easy to implement?

@ Peter: maybe just a check box for "close output after every track" in the core options?

anyways its not horribly important, but it would be useful, as im sure there are others in my situation.

The best seems to be a plugin to stop the output which could be used like silence://
