I like to know what is better CBR or VBR?
VBR if you use the --alt-preset switches.

VBR 
Simply put : VBR is of constant quality but because of that, the bitrate fluctuates. CBR is of constant bitrate but the quality fluctuates because the "harder" to encode pieces would require more bits.
