On www.cher.com - the official site of Cher, the first (and best) song on her new compilation album is available for full lenght MP3 download along with AIM icons on the "download" page of the site.

What does this mean? By putting up her biggest hit "Believe" for download, is she saying "you can burn this file" ? Why is she putting it up for download, when it's one of the key tracks on her new compilation album?

How is this to be interpretted? I mean, she's on of the main stream pop artists from the greedy music industry that wants everything paid and controlled....

Do you think putting it on the download page and pointing out it's full lenght, download and MP3, means that she'll accept burning or distribution of the file?

Or should it be interpreted as a sample, just like an 16 kbps 30-second RealFraudio clip?

I think she probably realises that by now, everyone who wants that song would already have it. smile.gif Probably the only people left to download it would be ones who don't even know how to use a cd-writer or a file sharing network. In theory they'll listen and think "Hmm I like it." and go out to buy the album. smile.gif

it's a matter of taste. Example: I'm not attracted to teddy bears.

Since there is no license attached and you live in Denmark, you follow Danish law. That means you can download it and listen to it. But any copy you make is illegal.

Cher is a somewhat sad case. Even though she has made countless albums, she did not learn to sing until 1987 - 41 years old. She made three wonderful albums with the full potential of her voice, then it declined. On her two latest albums she is using a computer to cut off the high frequencies of her voice. She claims it is to create a desired sound, but it is pretty obvious she can't hit the right tones anymore.

Nah. A matter of taste would be MPC vs AAC. The song in question is without a doubt, undeniably shit. tongue.gif

I dunno, does the compilation contain her old stuff as well? I dont like that, but I can see ^why^ people do. As for the newer stuff <insert best spewing smiley here>

Edit: I AM attracted to kittycats with one eye a different colour to the other.
