Hi all!

What I'm looking for is a P4 (in other words SSE2) optimized/supported/call-it-what-you-want version of 3.90.2 Lame, which gives bit-identical results to Dibrom's compile.

Before you bash me let me just say that I've been a silent visitor to the forum for quite some time and that I did my homework of doing a forum search. I've read a bunch of threads and found sse2 compiles but only for other versions of lame.
Dibrom
The reason that there is no P4 specific compile is because all attempts to optimize for the P4 (aside from using different ASM routines, which are largely untested and significantly change output) have provided results worse than the default optimized compile.

how faster would a p4 optimized compile be?

thank you!

In some other threads (search for "sse2") there was talk of about 15%-20% gain with sse2 compiles, a bit higher with ASM optimizations for sse switched on. The version in question was 3.92 if I remember correctly. I think it was nebob's thread. But there were some crc and bitrate mismatches when compared to standard compiles.
