Full Version: e-mail server on a dynamic DSL

I was looking around for help with setting up a mail server for a DSL account that has a dynamic IP. I have it on a DNS service (dyndns.org) which says you can run an e-mail server but nothing more. I've looked around at other sites for a forum that would be more appropriate but not finding anything I'm hoping someone here might have some experience or at least know where I can look.

I've gotten some of the software (Mercury, IMail) but I'm still having trouble setting it up - the server is to go onto a Win2k machine. I just want it for simple email collection and sending on that machine - nothing fancy.

thanks in advance

no problem helping you if you're using linux. oh well.

on the dns, you want to set yourhost.dyndns.org MX record to point to your ip.

I am doing exactly this since about a year now, and its working perfectly. As win32 mailserver i am using a freeware program called 'mercury' from http://www.pmail.com .... only thing is, your box has to be switched on ( almost ) all around the clock. But it doesnt hurt if the box is off for a few hours, the emails will be stored in some relay and find their destination a bit later ...
